Where? The Royal Melbourne Hotel, which is one of the few venues granted with a late party licence for NYE because it's a respectable venue that's indoor/outdoor and fully air-conditioned. It's also one of Melbourne's Great Historic Venues (Heritage Listed) and best kept secrets.

Location: Royal Melbourne Hotel, 629 Bourke Street Melbourne 3000, Phone (03) 9629 2400.
Time and date: Thursday 31st December 2009. Starts 8pm ends Late.
How to get there: Southern Cross Station is a few steps away and has private car parking. Also, any tram that runs along Bourke, Spencer and Collins Street will get you there. There is metred off street parking. To the many people who attend from out of Melbourne, send us an e-mail if you need further details. As usual there are extended NYE public transport services.

Allow yourself to drift back in time and enjoy shows with a vintage and glamorous feel. The carefully selected talented performers will sizzle with red hot naughty tassel twirling (in a tasteful way), others are charming, sophisticated and exotic, some will surprise you. Introducing the following performers:

Your MC for the evening is Master Sarah Moanies. A regular in the International Burlesque Scene, Master Sarah Monies hosted the first ever House of Burlesque NYE 5 years ago and the Host with the Most is back. Master Sarah Moanies is so good she could handle if all the other acts were locked up NYE, don't worry as she would bail them out. She's flown 10,000 miles to be here and has used up all her bonus frequent flyer points. Welcome back - Master Sarah Moanies.
The Jazz Band is Julie O'Hara and the Rifftet. We had a hard time finding a suitable Jazz Band for the 'Roaring Twenties Burlesque' - NYE 2010 (With Jazz being the music of the 20's) so we searched, watched, listened and asked all the Jazz Club Owners for their recommendation. The majority recommended Julie O'Hara and the Rifftet who can play all vibes, respond to and entertain you. A Special Thanks to Jason Downes for his help in getting the band, and he is also blowing sax on the night. You will enjoy one of Australia's top Jazz Acts.
Gypsy the Hula Hypnotica born Leigh Marning: How many performers do you know have won 7 Commonwealth Games Medals and been the national champion in rhythmic gymnastics 5 times. If none now you do. Leigh Marning provides wow and more. She's also a Cirque De Solei performer.
She She Velour: A singing Burlesque Sensation who with her sultry silky smooth voice will leave you gasping for more and wishing you were her. Why pay a couple of hundred dollars to watch a performer that rhymes with "Gimme Beers" and lip syncs? She She Velour is the real thing. Make sure you applaud as She She Velour also has a 5th Dan Black Belt.
Resident Dashing DJS & DJ Anto. For the big NYE 2010 night you need the big guns. The resident DJS & DJ Anto are the masters of Sophisticated Swing and Burlesque Beats. For those who dare stay til late prepare for Funked up Jazzy House Music that still keeps to the theme. The later it is the more the DJs will let loose with the beats. "Hey DJ Anto put a record on - I wanna dance with my baby."

The House of Burlesque Fan Dancers. Mystic Blanc, Sensual Siana, Ebony, Augusta Wonder, She She Velour and Miss Blossom. Nothing can beat a troupe of talented performers on stage to revive some long lost extinct glam.
Siana the Belly Burlesque Extraordinaire a House of Burlesque and crowd favorite is performing a new show along with her other dancers. By day Siana also performs for children by night she's tranforms into a wild child to compensate.
Boys Risqué: These chaps can sing and dance like stars of the Golden Age. Rumour has it they may be performing a Can Can. They are definitely performing a Twenties themed show. We are excited and you will be too when you see and hear them. Individually Andrew Portelli, Jason Law and Nathan Smith have done heaps as choreographers, dance teachers and all round performers. This will be the first time they perform together as Boys Risqué, offering you a show you have not seen before.
Giselle: The tribal fusion performance artist. After training and performing extensively in the San Francisco Bay area, attending many workshop intensives with Rachel Brice, Mardi Love (following them to Barcelona for further training). She formed her own unique style after many years. Giselle has performed ritual dance theatre productions in Melbourne, Edinburgh, London, Italy, Sicily and California, now for you. Giselle along with two of her disciples have choreographed a twenties style show inspired by the famous twenties spy 'Mata Hara'
Minsky Malone. Have you noticed everyone has jumped on the Burlesque Bandwagon lately. Minsky has Burlesqued for 15 years beginning with her Girly Burlesque Troupe in England. She started in the seedy bars, then the honky top bars moving on to performing with Ali G on his TV show and Robbie Williams. She now operates her own productions and school. Enough of the intro, she is performing with Joey Russell Junior the wrestler in a Non Wrestling Show. This is a non slap event! If you behave too well he will lock you in one of the dungeons. Help!
Baroness Mischa. The worlds only contorting female sword swallower. Yippee - She's back for the NYE 2010 Extravaganza. This time with a different sword that is half an inch longer. Bet you never heard that before.

The below pics by Matt Deller Melbourne's top notch events and celebrity photographer - from last year's Minsky's Circus Burlesque NYE at the Royal Melbourne Hotel, and from the previous 5 New Year's Eve Celebrations shows everyone expressing themselves and having a ball - that's what makes it exciting. Dress 20's, Dress Burlesque or Dress To Impress and you'll be fine. Yes, there is a cloak roam if you are dressing Risqué or Burlesque, and passouts if you forgot your bra.
The best tip we have received in dressing Twenties came from Nicole Jenkins the owner of Circa Vintage Clothing and to quote her. ‘What I find also, about the '20s is that most of the look is achieved through accessories - such as repro styles like fedora, top and bowler hats, braces, long strings of pearls’. Circa Vintage Clothing are at 102 Gertrude Street Fitzroy VIC 3065 Phone: 03 9419 8899. Give them a call or pop in, and no we are not getting anything to say that. You will be able to wear these sort of threads and accessories not just for this type of event.
The tradition of no one ever wearing a hooded track top will continue regardless of label. We all know this anyway, however the interpretation of Dress to Impress has changed lately.
Dressing Burlesque can be fun, cheeky or elegant. Wear corsets, burlesque stockings, hats gloves. Think Moulin Rouge, Dita Von Teese or 50's pin up, to mention a few styles. Once again a few accessories can do the trick unless you have something else in mind. You can chat to Minsky Malone - see bottom of page contact details, as she is an expert in Burlesque Fashion. With all the above options you can get away with what you already have, get a few accessories or go all the way.
